Gerhard Füssl // Portraits

Portrait photos of Gerhard Füssl of Mnozil Brass, captured for Schagerl Music. The session was a quick yet inspiring moment before his concert in Grafenegg, featuring him with his Schagerl “Opus F” trombone as well as the new Mnozil Brass model trombone.

Gerhard Füssl, born 13 November 1968 in Mondsee, is an Austrian trombonist and music educator.
He studied trombone and instrumental pedagogy at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Horst Küblböck (1988–1994).
Since 1992 (or 1993), he has been a founding and core member of Mnozil Brass, touring internationally in over 50 countries.
Alongside his performing career, he is active as a teacher: since 1995 he holds teaching roles in regional music schools, and from 2002 he held a teaching assignment at the Mozarteum Salzburg focused on crossover and new folk music.
In performance, Gerhard is known for his versatility, combining classical training, chamber and orchestral work, and expressive capacity with Mnozil’s characteristic blend of musical virtuosity and theatrical flair.

This portrait session aimed to show both the seasoned professionalism and the artistic identity of Gerhard — his connection to his instrument(s), the anticipation before performance, and the character that comes from decades in brass performance.
