Laura Valbuena // Portraits

Laura Valbuena is a Colombian-born artist now based in Vienna (since 2013), and an official Schagerl Artist.
She studied classical clarinet and popular music saxophone at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
Laura is a vivid representative of Colombian and Latin American folklore in Vienna, and leads musical projects like Visa Mestiza.
She has performed with renowned artists and ensembles such as Ina Forsman, Ruben Blades, Jorge Drexler, Juan Diego Flórez, Las Migas, and more, on stages across Europe, Colombia, and beyond.
In 2020, she was appointed as cultural representative of her hometown Ubaté in Colombia.

In this series, I aimed to capture not just a portrait, but the soul of her artistry — the confidence, the subtlety, the personal connection between musician and instrument. Each frame is meant to reflect her musical identity and the harmony she finds with her Schagerl saxophone.
